Creating a Local User or Administrator Account in Windows 10

Do you want to create local account for your kid or someone on your Windows 10 computer/laptop without Microsoft account? Well, it is easy to create a local account on Windows 10. There are many reasons to create a local account as the other person can use the same laptop without having any administrative privileges. Thus, you not just keep your account secured but also make sure no one can make any changes to your Documents, Pictures, etc. Also, the game downloads by your kids do not interfere with your account.

Creating a new local account also makes sure your kid not need an unnecessary Microsoft email address which is of no use to them as yet. Let us have a look at creating a local user or administrator account in Windows 10.

How to Create a New Local User Account in Windows 10?

Let us learn to create a new local user account in Windows 10 Home and Professional Editions:

1.Select the Startbutton and go to Settings > Accounts > Family & other people > Add someone else to this PC.

2.Select I don’t have this person’s sign-in information at the bottom of the page. On the next page you need to select Add a user without a Microsoft account.

3.You will be asked to enter a user name, password hint, and then click Next.

4.Those using Windows 10 version 1803, will be required to enter security questions, instead of hint.

This will help one reset their local account password in case one forgets it.

Those using Windows 10 Enterprise edition should follow the steps below:

1.Select Start and go to Settings > Accounts > Other people>Add someone else to this PC.

2.Select I don’t have this person’s sign-in information, and at the bottom of the next page select Add  a user without a Microsoft account.

3.You need to enter a user name, password, password hind, and then click Next

If you wish to make the new local administrator account an administrator account then you need to select Start > Settings > Account > Family & Other people. Select Change account type and choose Administrator > OK. Restart your computer/laptop and sign in with the new administrator account.

This is all that you need to do for creating a local user or administrator account in Windows.
